The late actor’s last film had been speculated about ever since he passed away. In honor of Rishi Kapoor’s legacy, Prime Video and Excel Entertainment announced the world premiere of Sharmaji Namkeen, the actor’s last film.
Produced by Excel Entertainment and MacGuffin Pictures, the movie stars Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, each of whom plays the titular individual, along with Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar.

After the actor passed away, the makers hired actor Paresh Rawal to complete the remaining portions of the film, making it the first movie in which two actors played the same role at the same time. Rishi Kapoor shot most of Sharmaji Namkeen with Juhi Chawla, but a few parts remained incomplete. So Paresh Rawal stepped in to complete those portions for the makers.
The movie is going to be premiered on Prime Video on March 31. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, the film will launch on Prime Video, Excel Entertainment announced on Wednesday.
The movie is about a recently retired man who discovers his passion for cooking after joining a riotous women’s kitty circle.
A poster of the film was shared by Paresh Rawal as part of the announcement. Rishi Kapoor’s all quirky character is shown in the first poster as he stares at the camera with utmost innocence.
The other poster shows Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal walking together in similar attire. It brings back many memories of the late actor’s impeccable craft and how his films were as iconic as his acting.
