Attack, starring John Abraham, did not have a promising start at the box office in India, earning just 3.5 net on day one, less than half of what the producers had anticipated.
Of course, there’s the RRR juggernaut to contend with, but sources claim that the urban-centric flavor of the John Abraham action picture didn’t immediately connect with the people, since action films in Bollywood, especially ones starring John, need to work in the public wallets to succeed from the start.
Attack, on the other hand, appeals more to multiplex audiences, although they, too, have the choice of RRR in addition to this week’s Hollywood blockbuster, Morbius. So, the futuristic action thriller starring John Abraham was a little slow out of the gate and required a large jump on both days 2 and 3, i.e. Saturday and Sunday, followed by great holds throughout the rest of the week to perform well in the long term.
That road to recovery hasn’t started well, as the John Abraham action film has only earned an estimated 3.75 net on day 2, with growth virtually non-existent.
The attack necessitated a significant increase in occupancy from the morning shows themselves on day 2 all across the nation since it was hovering around 10-15% pan-India on Friday. Unfortunately, Saturday has seen about the same occupancy, which isn’t promising for the film’s future.
Attack Day 2 Box Office Collection
In stark contrast, RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, with Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in cameos, has collected nearly 500 percent more on day 9 than Attack has on day 2, and we’re referring to the SS Rajamouli directorial’s box office figure specifically in the Hindi belt to keep the analogy on an even field.
Sure, RRR has retained more screens in its second week than Attack has in its first – though this is a reflection of exhibitors’ confidence in the former – even so, it’s telling that one film earns approximately 18 crore nett on its second Saturday while the other earns approximately 3.75 crore net on its first Saturday.
Saturday, whilst the other receives around 3.75 crore net on its first Saturday. RRR’s total box office collection in the Hindi circuit is a whopping 164.09 crore net, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
