RRR, directed by S.S. Rajamouli and starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn in a cameo, has already shattered several box office records on day one, surpassing Baahubali 2 as the biggest opener ever in the history of Indian cinema, both in India and globally – SS Rajamouli, thus competing with himself.
RRR held exceedingly well over the rest of week 1 and then magnificently grew again in its second weekend, almost touching 950 crores gross on its way to crossing grossing over 1000 at the worldwide box office, after registering a collection of 228.50 crores gross on its opening day, breaking multiple records in the process.
Will there be RRR 2?
Director SS Rajamouli and the film’s stars, Jr NTR and Ram Charan, as well as producer Jayantilal Gada, held a grand success meet at the prestigious Sahara Star Hotel at Mumbai’s Santacruz airport to celebrate the film’s success in front of a large media contingent, where several questions about the film and theories surrounding it were raised.
One such question was concerning the prospect of a sequel to RRR, since anyone who has seen the film – and let’s face it, who hasn’t – knows that the ending leaves plenty of room for a sequel.
While Rajamouli just stated that both NTR and Charan are highly popular with the audience as a result of RRR and that a sequel, if at all, would need to cool down before the thought of a sequel could be entertained, Jr. NTR had a different viewpoint.
The way RRR ended, and everyone has watched it, everyone wants a sequel, and Rajamouli will be killed if RRR does not get a sequel, Young Tiger stated flatly. He stated unequivocally that a sequel to RRR is in the works. Furthermore, Ram Charan enthusiastically agreed with his viewpoint.
