Andre Russell did an unexpected dance in front of Pat Cummins after the Australian all-fifty rounders helped Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians by five wickets in an IPL 2022 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Russell’s post-match antics amused not just social media users, but also Shah Rukh Khan, a Bollywood actor and KKR co-owner. On Twitter, the iconic actor praised Cummins, expressing his wish to dance as well as Russell.

In KKR’s run chase on Wednesday, Cummins hit the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history – with KL Rahul – in 14 balls and finished with an unbeaten 56 off 15 balls. “@patcummins30 I want to hug you like the rest of the team and dance like Andre. Wow, beautifully done, @KKRiders, and what else can be said??? DIYE CHAKKE…’PAT’!!!” Following the game, Shah Rukh tweeted.

The reactions of Russell and Shah Rukh were anticipated. MI has been KKR’s most difficult IPL opponent, with the two-time winners having the worst head-to-head record against the Rohit Sharma-led side.

Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Kieron Pollard, who guided MI to 161 for 4, helped KKR lose their way in the game after a promising start. All eyes were on Andre Russell after KKR’s top-order struggled to get off to a decent start. The big-hitting all-rounder got off to a good start with a six and a four, but he was soon dismissed for 11 runs.

With KKR still requiring 61 from 41 balls and 5 wickets in hand, MI appeared to be the clear favorites. However, they were completely unaware of what was about to happen to them.

Pat Cummins demolished the MI attack in ten minutes, hammering six sixes and four fours in one of the most breath-taking exhibitions of stroke play in IPL history to finish the contest in 15 overs.

Cummins spared no one, including Tymal Mills and Jasprit Bumrah. But he saved his best for Daniel Sams, scoring 35 runs in the 15th over off the left-arm seamer to seal the victory. KKR ascended to the top of the points table with the surprise win, while MI, like CSK, endured their 3rd straight loss in the tournament.
