EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Kritika Kamra discusses overcoming preconceptions while transitioning from television to the web and movies: It was challenging. In movies and television programmes like Kitani Mohabbat Hai and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Kritika Kamra has portrayed iconic roles. Kritika Kamra made her film and online debuts with Mitron, Tandav, and the recently released Hush Hush after portraying noteworthy roles in TV series like Kitani Mohabbat Hai and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge.
The actress spoke candidly about the misconceptions she encountered while making this transition in an interview with Pinkvilla. “Just, I suppose, how the business and the business community see TV stars. It took me a while, but I can now claim that I was able to break out of that mould. With the work I currently perform and can undertake, I can confidently claim that my horizons have expanded and that the TV image is no longer an issue.
“I did everything on TV,” said Kritika Kamra:
She admits that she avoided the clichéd appearance on purpose. To be honest, it was really tough for me to avoid that. I did everything on TV—fiction, nonfiction, hosting—but I didn’t want to be associated with any outdated material. I did not want to participate in or witness activities that I did not support. I avoided the traditional image, but I couldn’t help but feel overexposed because of my television appearances because some of my shows were relatively successful.
“So these types of things, like I would go meetings and hear these things, which I didn’t even know existed when I was doing television,” she continues. If you’re from outside, you won’t know the difference between TV and movies, but once you’re here, you’ll see that there is an unspoken line of demarcation.
